COURAGE

someone said to me that nothing special with courage, it's just something that everyone has.

definition : courage is ability to confront fear, pain, risk/danger, uncertainty, and intimidation

courage is derived from love and that explains "courage, with audacity, will die. one of courage, but gentle, spares death. from these two kinds of courage arise harm and benefit"

courage is broken down to many things. bravery, honesty, perseverance, and zest.

courage is one of ten characteristics (lakshana) of dharma in the Hindu Manusmurti
  1. Courage (shauriya) and Patience (dhairya)
  2. forgiveness (kshama)
  3. tolerance (dama)
  4. honesty (asthaya)
  5. physical restraint (indriya nigraha)
  6. cleanliness (shouchya)
  7. perceptiveness (dhi)
  8. knowledge (vidhya)
  9. truthfulness (satya)
  10. control of anger (akrodh)
having spirit and giving spirit means courage. but facing your own weakness and fear is not the only way to gain spirit, but it's the quickest way, i think. William Walker Atkinson said: "Remember, the only thing to fear is Fear, and - well, don't even fear Fear, for he's a cowardly chap at the best, who will run if you show a brave front". and when you face your fear already, you'll realize that there was nothing to be scared of.

having weakness doesn't mean we have no courage at all. but having weakness and trying to avoid it is the biggest mistake. we should try to understand our fear and weakness is nothing more than our creation. it becomes worse because we belief about it.

and find our purpose to live.

but courage is not all about ourself. it's about the others too. giving encourage and hope to someone is one way to build a courage and faith in our self. have you ever sat across the table from your friend or family member and wondered what you could say to encourage them to get through a difficult time in their life? it feels awful when you couldn't say anything. i will feel helpless and no use.

The finest gift you can give anyone is encouragement. Yet, almost no one gets the encouragement they need to grow to their full potential. If everyone received the encouragement they need to grow, the genius in most everyone would blossom and the world would produce abundance beyond the wildest dreams. We would have more than one Einstein, Edison, Schweitzer, Mother Theresa, Dr. Salk and other great minds in a century.”Sidney Madwed
